Prayer is an intimate conversation with Our Lord and is two-fold. First, we are to offer our thanksgiving and praise to Him for everything that He has daily blessed us with in our lives. Our hearts and minds are to lift up and proclaim His awesome dominion, to rest in His presence, and to listen to His voice speak to us giving us direction in our life. Secondly, Our Lord has commanded us to bring our needs and requests to Him:
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6
